Course

Data Engineer (Experienced)

Recruit Group provides matching platforms that connect individuals and companies, as well as business support services for enterprises.

An important part of our mission is to combine the power of Recruit Group's data with data analysis and AI technologies to improve the matching accuracy of these platforms and add new value to our services.

Data engineers at Recruit Group work with rich insights drawn from the activity of a large number of users and clients, and contribute to creating new value across a wide range of fields.

Responsibilities

Your mission is to design, build, and operate reliable and efficient data environments by applying software engineering methods.

Working with data from the large-scale services operated by Recruit Group, such as Jalan, SUUMO, Zexy, and Recruit Agent, you will take end-to-end ownership of the data pipeline, from upstream to downstream: from the data analytics platforms on Google Cloud / AWS to the data marts, BI dashboards, and KPI monitoring built on top of them to support business decisions.

For example, you will be responsible for work such as the following:

  • Designing, developing, and operating large-scale data pipelines and data storage platforms using Google Cloud / AWS
  • Designing, developing, and operating the data environments essential to data-driven decision-making (data marts, BI dashboards, access logs, etc.)
  • Supporting the design of KPIs for businesses and products, and building and improving monitoring environments
  • Data modeling, defining data quality standards, and building mechanisms to maintain them through software engineering practices such as CI/CD
  • Building data platforms that can be used safely not only by people but also by AI agents, including metadata management and semantic layer development
  • Designing infrastructure automation using tools such as Terraform
  • Considering and planning next-generation architectures

A well-maintained data environment is essential for fast, accurate decision-making within the business, and for solving problems with data solutions such as recommendation and search.

This role is central to promoting the use of data across the entire Recruit Group.

Because it sits between data science and software engineering, you can broadly and comprehensively develop the skills expected of a data expert, from data design with an analytical perspective, to improving operational efficiency through engineering, to working with business stakeholders.

Who We're Looking For

  • People who have their own area of strength (e.g., data modeling, pipeline development, data platform architecture, BI and visualization, data quality management) and can apply it to their work
  • People with experience identifying the essential problem and leading others to solve it
  • People who can make flexible decisions based on the background and purpose of a project, rather than merely executing given requirements
  • People who care not only about their own results but also about improving the results and output quality of the entire team

You'll Be a Great Fit If You

  • Want to work with data gathered from a diverse range of services and create new value with specialized data skills—from planning and driving product improvements and developing new features to proposing medium- to long-term business strategies
  • Aspire to create new value for the business through the use of data
  • Want to leverage the Recruit Group's resources and assets to deliver results that make an impact on society
  • Have strong intellectual curiosity, a drive to explore the root cause of problems, and a desire to solve them

Appeal Points

Significant discretion in technology selection

We actively adopt new technologies and methods whenever they make sense for improving the service.

Development methods vary depending on the scale and growth stage of each service, and we can switch methods mid-development when a better one is identified.

The Recruit Group is now at a turning point in its development organization, environment, and technology.

As a result, engineers are both expected and encouraged to take initiative, from exploring new development methods through to putting them into practice.

A broad range of career paths

Rather than being limited to a career in management only, or in development within a specific technical domain, you can build a wide variety of careers in data.

In particular, the Recruit Group has a well-established data infrastructure. Many of our products are already past the stage of simply getting data ready, and with our wide variety of products and large user base, you can work on high-impact uses of data.
