About Recruit

A company large enough to matter,
open enough to change.

Founded in Tokyo in 1960, Recruit Group began by connecting university students and companies through job information, and built a business model that links individuals and businesses. It has since expanded from HR-related businesses into life-event and everyday-consumption domains, and more recently into SaaS-based support for small and mid-sized businesses.

Working here

Work Style & Growth

Recruit aims to create an environment where each person can work autonomously and flexibly. Alongside flexibility in how people work, Recruit provides opportunities and programs that support continued challenge and growth.

Flexibility in when and where you work

Flextime is available. For most roles, remote work does not require a specific reason or fixed number of days, and employees can choose among home, office, and other approved work locations depending on their work and team.

Time off & leave

140 company holidays plus five designated paid-leave days. The Anniversary Allowance goes to employees with at least one year of service as of April 1 who take four or more consecutive paid-leave days; STEP Leave comes once every three years of service, counted in calendar days and subject to applicable conditions.

Opportunities to challenge and grow

Through Will-Can-Must, employees periodically align their aspirations, strengths, and next challenges with their manager and current mission. Career Web carries internal openings; a move takes place when the employee and hiring team agree on the match following the selection process.

Learning & development

Onboarding and development vary by role, and details are provided on each course page. The published example for new-graduate engineers covers five areas — frontend, databases, infrastructure, data analysis, and security — alongside internal study sessions and events on technology and product development.

How people make it work

There is no single way to work at Recruit. Here are a few examples of how people combine their roles with learning, outside experiences, and responsibilities beyond work.

Data science × PhD

Deepening expertise while working

A Recruit data scientist pursued a doctoral program while continuing to work on real business problems. Through joint research with a university, academic study and day-to-day analysis informed each other.

Work × graduate study

Learning beyond the day job

A Recruit employee used time outside work to prepare for graduate school and continued studying psychology alongside her job. She describes the learning as broadening how she thinks and positively influencing her work.

Product management × a venture side job

Learning across two worlds

A Recruit product manager also works with a smaller venture company on product improvement and data utilization. Moving between different scales and team environments brings new perspectives back to his product work.

Product management × graphic design

Another craft, another perspective

A Recruit product manager also works as a graphic designer outside the company with approval. Experiencing both the person requesting work and the person creating it deepened how she collaborates with designers and engineers in her main role.

Professional challenge × parenting

Designing work around family

After maternity and parental leave, a Recruit employee returned to work and now leads a data team while raising a child. She describes shaping her work around family circumstances while continuing to take on demanding professional challenges.

Each example describes one person's situation at the time of publication, not a guaranteed arrangement. Side work requires prior approval.
